Personality:

- Can come across as annoying, but chances are he's intentionally antagonizing someone or dealing with a really close friend

History:

Bullied for looking like a girl, Jala was timid and avoided other children. His concerned parents sent him to a trusted acquaintance in Payon, who taught him archery alongside a quiet, white-haired Thief. Though initially afraid the other boy would also tease him, Jala gradually came to consider the Thief a friend. This was further enforced by, when asked whether he thought Jala looked like a girl, the Thief's only response was "What difference would it make?" Encouraged by the notion that he can be himself regardless of how he looked, Jala slowly gained enough confidence to confront his bullies upon returning to Juno. Rather than let them demean him for his appearance, he flaunted it at them. So they thought he looked like a girl? Then he could act like one, too.

His behavior proved very unsettling to his bullies, and the tormenting stopped. Free from the anxiety over their son's treatment by his peers, and reassured by his proficiency with a bow, Jala's parents readily agreed to allow him to continue traveling the world. His first goal was to track down the white-haired Thief, Morano, who had helped him. The two reunited as a Hunter and Assassin and, though they rarely travel together, continue to keep in touch.

**Current Story:

Jala encountered Morano unexpectedly accompanied by a younger red-haired boy on one of their chance meetings. After his initial surprise, Jala took it upon himself to act as a more affectionate guardian to Avis, encouraging him to pursue hobbies and interests while Morano continued to guide his combat training. Though neither Morano nor Avis went into much detail about what happened to the latter, Jala does know about his multiple personalities and is helping Morano look into ways to control Avis’s most dangerous ones.


Relationships:

- Oletta: His falcon. Very fond of preening his hair, especially after he started growing it longer
- Morano: One of his best friends, though the friendship often seems one-sided
- **Huki: His other best friend and a frequent target of unsolicited flirtations
- **Avis: Somewhat of an adopted little brother. Jala is very careful about respecting his personal space
- Meruran: Detests Jala due to an encounter during WoE
- Menou: Permanently in denial that Jala's a man
